The opportunity
This is a senior, influential role where you'll set the standard for how planning is done across our projects - from tender through to delivery.
As the South Island functional lead for planning, you'll work closely with project and operational leaders and our national planning function to deliver consistent, high-quality, data-driven programmes that actively manage risk, unlock opportunities, and give us a genuine competitive edge.
You'll also play a key role in developing our people - building a long-term resource plan, mentoring cadets, and developing our internal capability.
What you'll be doing:
Leading construction planning and programming across South Island projects
Developing with our Operational and Project leads competitive, contract-compliant programmes from tender through delivery
Working closely with Project Managers to monitor progress, manage change and mitigate risk
Establishing programme baselines, tracking performance and reporting key milestones
Driving collaborative planning workshops with project teams and stakeholders
Providing clear, practical programme advice to support decision-making
Developing metrics to ensure we are more data driven with our planning and programming creation and execution
Benchmarking performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
Building planning capability, mentoring others and shaping future talent pathways
What we're looking for
You'll be a confident planning professional who enjoys working closely with project teams and influencing outcomes.
You'll ideally bring the following:
Relevant qualifications and experience in construction or project management
Strong experience in construction programming and planning on commercial projects
The ability to lead, influence and collaborate across multiple stakeholders
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong risk awareness
Excellent communication and reporting skills
A commitment to quality, consistency and continuous improvement
Proficient in Microsoft Project
This role is ideally based in Christchurch, with some travel across the South Island as required.
