The opportunity
Calling all Construction Graduates and aspiring Project Managers! Are you passionate about leading teams, coordinating complex builds, and driving successful project outcomes? Our Cadetship Programme is your launchpad into a rewarding career in project management within the construction industry. This is a permanent, full-time, role based in Christchurch.
You will get to work alongside experienced site teams on a wide range of projects - commercial, healthcare, education, and retail -gaining hands-on experience and insight into the full project lifecycle. From planning and procurement to delivery and close-out, you'll be immersed in the real-world application of construction and project management.
To be considered for this role, we're looking for individuals with a genuine interest in project leadership and a drive to build a long-term career in construction management. Preference will be given to those currently studying or holding a diploma or degree in construction, engineering, or project management.
Our Cadetship Programme is a structured learning journey designed to grow your technical knowledge, leadership skills, and project management capability. You'll gain exposure to all facets of construction while working with one of New Zealand's most respected commercial builders.
A Construction Management Cadet
As a Construction Management Cadet, you'll be mentored by experienced Project Managers and Senior Site Managers. You will contribute to live projects, learning construction methodology, project planning, and performance standards in a supportive, team-based environment.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to understand how great projects are delivered - from the ground up - and who's ready to take the first step toward a future in project leadership.
Key qualities required:
- A proactive attitude toward learning, with personal responsibility for using available resources, completing cadet milestones, and growing into the role
- A high level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Initiative in handling and prioritising tasks and solving problems
- A collaborative mindset and team-first attitude
- The ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- An interest in project planning, coordination, and leadership
