About the role
We are excited to announce a rare opportunity for a People and Culture General Manager. They will lead the ongoing development and execution of our people and culture function and business strategy. This is a key role with high impact in Naylor Love providing expert strategic leadership across the full range of People and Culture disciplines.
As an organisation undergoing transformation and growth, we are looking for a values-driven leader who brings both commercial acumen and deep expertise in all HR centres of Excellence. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer, this role leads a team of dedicated People and Culture Business Partners and Coordinator's along with functional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partners. We would love to hear from innovative People and Culture leaders who have led complex organisations of 700+ from preferably with experience working within private enterprise sector.
This role will deliver a positive, inclusive and high-performance culture that aligns with our organisation's values and strategic goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Shape and execute a progressive, business-aligned People and Culture strategy
- Advise and partner with the Executive Team and the national leadership team on all matters relating to the people aspects of the workforce, including talent management, succession planning, employee engagement, organisational change and remuneration strategies
- Oversee HR operations, policies, and systems, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement
- Develop leadership and succession frameworks to strengthen internal capability and support sustainable growth
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across all aspects of the employee lifecycle
- Build and lead a high-performing HR function with strong business partnering capability
Role requirements:
- Minimum of 8-10 years in senior P and C leadership roles, ideally within complex, multi-stakeholder organisations of 700+
- Bachelor's degree in human resources (desirable)
- Proven experience leading strategic P and C initiatives that deliver measurable business outcomes
- Strong understanding of New Zealand employment law, industrial relations, and HR compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and influence at executive and board levels
- Commercially minded, with a strong ability to align people initiatives with broader business objectives
- Experience managing and developing high-performing HR teams
- A reputation for integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
- Ability to travel regularly throughout New Zealand
