The opportunity
An opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to support our Auckland team has arisen. This is a senior position in the Auckland leadership team, reporting to the Regional Director.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of health and safety management systems, risk assessment processes, legal requirements and an understanding of industry best practice and standards. You will have the ability to promote a culture of health and safety within and with our sub-contractors, ensuring the effective implementation of our safety management system.
You will need a track record of establishing working relationships, promoting and advising on health and safety issues with project teams and sub-contractors and you will have a minimum of five years health and safety management experience in the construction sector. The five years of health and safety management experience can be supplemented by a proven five years of strong operational leadership.
The key responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Ensure incident reporting and investigation is carried out effectively and immediately to determine root cause and provide recommendations/directions aimed at preventing re-occurrence
- Collation of regional data, regional reporting and trends analysis
- Review and analyse regional incident data on a monthly basis
- Develop and implement regional business plan within the senior leadership team. Drive the Health and Safety strategy and continuous improvement
- Carry out periodic inspections/audits of projects to ensure compliance and where applicable make recommendations for change
- Identify and drive regional health and safety training programmes, internally and externally
- Keep the General Manager - Health and Safety informed regarding serious incidents and issues in the region
- Engage and build relationships with industry - WorkSafe, SiteSafe, CHASNZ etc
