The opportunity
We are seeking an ambitious individual to join our Auckland team as a Building Services Cadet. This is a great pathway for an individual from an electrical, plumbing or mechanical background, who is looking to transition from trade's into project management.
Based in our Auckland region, the successful candidate will complete our 3-year Naylor Love Cadetship Programme. Working closely with our Building Services Team, the successful applicant will have exposure to a wide range of NZ's largest construction projects that cover a broad range of build sectors including commercial, healthcare, education and retail.
The successful candidate will gain valuable knowledge of services techniques used during the full life cycle of projects from tender stage through to completion, while completing our much sought-after Cadetship programme in Building Services. This is an opportunity that sets you up for a career within building services and the wider construction sector.
To be considered for this opportunity candidates must have a genuine interest in construction and forging a successful career within this field. Candidates should ideally hold a building service trade or construction qualification and have gained work experience within the trades or construction sector. We are looking for someone who is personable, motivated and enjoys working with people.
A Building Services Cadet
As a Building Services Cadet, you will be mentored under the direction of an experienced Building Services Engineer. By undertaking assigned projects, you will learn the lifecycle of building services within live construction projects, from tender to commissioning and hand over including performance standards. This role would suit individuals who are self-driven and wish to manage the technical (services) trades during construction within a supportive team-based environment.

- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good at problem solving
- Show initiative in handling and prioritising tasks and solving problems
- Work within and contribute to a team environment
- The ability to multitask efficiently

The successful applicant will be required to complete a pre-employment medical questionnaire including drug screening and be eligible to work in New Zealand either as a resident or by holding a current work visa.
